Split Tail - 1/2" X 4'

The Split Tail Climbing System is becoming more popular. For some time, the technique of choice by tree climbers has been to tie their rope to a snap, leaving a length of line from the snap as a hitching tail for the falling end of their line. That's where the Split Tail system differs. The Split Tail is merely another section of rope devoted to the friction hitch which permits the climber to detach his climbing line without untying. The ideal Split Tail system has both the climbing line and tail spliced to keep it simple and knot free, but some climbers tie their own Split Tail with a spare section of line.
